Joseph Marafioti is a drummer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer behind Starlume, creating groove-driven progressive electronica built on live drums and bass, layered with retro-futurist synth textures.
Rooted in prog-rock styles and electronica rhythms, his music blends analog warmth with melodic sequencing inspired by a life long influenced range of music from the 70s and 80's.
At the core of his work, is curiosity.
“I like to let the music evolve into what it naturally becomes, never fully knowing where it will lead. That’s where the magic lives - in those small surprise and delight moments you can never plan for.
I often reflect that allowing creativity to breathe and take its own path is much like how we grow as humans - shaped by each step we take, never forced, never predicted, but unfolding into what it is meant to become over time.
After years of writing, experimenting, stopping, starting again, and learning along the way, my music is finally out in the world, something I am deeply proud of.
This album feels like the point where all that curiosity, patience, frustration, and joy have all come together.
Sharing my music like this is something I’ve wanted to do my whole life. This is my art, my creativity, and a very personal moment for me.
